Afternoon Discovery: Float My Boat

Boat making may seem easy but it’s harder than you think!  We’ll have a few supplies available and your challenge is to create a boat that floats!

Afternoon Discoveries is a program designed for school-age children entering grades 2-5 to explore a variety of fascinating topics through books and activities.  Space is limited to 15 children – registration is required and can be done by clicking the link below or by calling or visiting the library.  Before you register your child for one of the programs, please check your calendar to make sure he/she will be able to attend.

Afternoon Discovery: Beaver Tales

Join an environmental educator from Columbia Land Conservancy to learn about the big splash that the beaver makes as New York State’s official mammal.  Learn about the beaver’s physical and behavioral adaptations that enable it to thrive year round and provide habitats for other creatures.  Take home a craft at the end of the program.

The science of water – how many drops of water can you fit on a penny?  What if detergent is added to the water?  Come explore water at the library – we’ll try out various experiments while trying not to get wet!
