Earth Day Extravaganza!
April 22 @ 10:00 am - 4:00 pm
While we treat everyday like it’s Earth Day, we’d be remiss to not have a host of events around this holiday! Be sure to join us at the Library for the following:
Meatless Mondays: We’re bringing Meatless Mondays to the Library once more this year! Families can challenge themselves “go meatless” one day a week for six weeks! We’ll provide meatless recipes for you to try each week, and by signing up you’ll be entered to win a sustainability raffle basket! Register here!
Computer Recycling: The amazing folks at GE Elfun Computer Rehab of Schenectady are looking for used computers and computer accessories to refurbish and redistribute to nonprofits and schools! Bring your computers, laptops, monitors, printers, and more to the Library, and we’ll get them to Schenectady! For a full list of accepted items, check out their website here. This collection will be running from April 22nd – May 5th only!
Fixing Food Documentary: Join us on April 16th at 12:30pm for the documentary Fixing Food in our meeting room! This short film tells stories of people who are working to lower our carbon footprint with impactful new ways to gather and prepare the food we need. The series looks at five important areas where we can make changes—farming in the ocean and the air, finding new food sources, learning from Indigenous agriculture, and rescuing the food we already have. This free matinee is open to all!
Earth Day Scavenger Hunt: On April 22nd, kids of all ages can join us for a special scavenger hunt on the Library grounds! This will be followed by a reading by local illustrator Chuck Groenink of his book Only One, and one lucky attendee will get a free signed copy to take home!
Teen Nature Walk: Teens can join Teen Librarian Emily at the Ooms Conservation Area for a hike! Bring comfy food, water, and snacks. This program will be rescheduled, so be sure to follow us on Instagram or Facebook for updates!
