Friends of the Library Policy

The purpose of the Friends of the Kinderhook Memorial Library shall be to maintain an association of persons interested in the Kinderhook Memorial Library; to focus attention on resources and services of the library; to encourage gifts, endowments and bequests to the library; to support and cooperate with the Library Board of Trustees and the Director in developing library services and facilities for the community; and to support the freedom to read as expressed in the American Library Association Bill of Rights.

The Trustees of the Kinderhook Memorial Library recognize the importance of the Friends of the Library as a link between the library and the community and as a source of support for library programs. The Trustees shall welcome the suggestions of the Friends through a Friends liaison to the Board of Trustees and shall keep the Friends informed of the library’s policies, goals and challenges.

The Friends of the Kinderhook Memorial Library recognize that the Board of Trustees of the Library has full authority over the governance of the library. The Friends shall support the goals and policies set by the Trustees and the library administrator. All activities, programs, and public statements of the Friends of the Kinderhook Memorial Library shall be planned with the knowledge of the Trustees and in coordination with the library administrator.
