This event has been cancelled due to the weather. Check back for a new date during Summer Reading! We're taking our Fairy House program OUTSIDE for Spring Break! We will have lots of supplies on hand in addition to what you can scavenge from around the library grounds. Build your cutest house and you never know who will come to visit!
Writers, poets, and lovers of poetry are invited to our first stand-up open mic poetry night, in celebration of National Poetry Month! You're invited to bring a short original piece, a favorite poem by another author, or simply come to enjoy listening to others. Come meet other local poets, and learn more about the local Poetry Caravan, a local organization the brings poetry to others throughout the community! Light refreshments will be served. We are hoping to make this a regular event at the Library, so please let us know if you are interested but unable to attend!
Join us for our informal Play Group. This drop in program is a great chance to meet other caregivers and socialize with other kids. For ages 18 months to 5ish.
Open to Grades 5-8 Middle Schoolers: volunteer at the library by helping us create and run events for tweens! Each meeting will be half planning, half program, all fun!
This twice-weekly exercise group is led by Kinderhook resident Pat Berroyer. If you are interested in attending, please contact the library first at [email protected].
When European settlers came to the Hudson Valley, they missed their native cultivars and brought them here to plant in their gardens. As a result, an estimated 80% of ornamental nursery plants are non-native species that do not support local food webs and can become invasive. By planting natives, we can increase biodiversity and reduce the risks associated with invasive species. In this talk, Master Gardener Frieda Pierce will review the insights provided by Douglas Tallamy, discuss native gardens, design elements, and plants that can be used to restore the ecosystem in your yard.
