Join a group of like-minded newbie menders and learn how to fix your own textiles at this friendly monthly gathering. You bring what you need to fix and any thread\, needles\, fabrics that you want to use. We’ll provide books\, videos\, and a little bit of experience to help you bring your textiles back to life while keeping them out of landfills! Please note: Moth-damaged woolens should be placed in a zip-top bag in the freezer for AT LEAST two days before being brought to the Mending Library. Keep your belongings from becoming part of the 92 MILLION TONS of textile waste every year. Mend and make do before you buy new!

DESCRIPTION:We are so excited to invite musician and educator Jordan Taylor Hill to the Kinderhook Farmer’s Market! In celebration of Juneteenth\, Jordan will be leading various workshops on drumming\, rhythm\, and movement\, inspired by the vibrant spirit of West African music. Get some hands on experience with traditional African drums as you explore different styles and rhythms. Participants will also learn to incorporate movement and dance into the performance. No registration required- these workshops are open to anyone who stops by. \nJordan has performed nationwide\, bringing a unique blend of cultures and genres to audiences in concert halls\, communities\, and schools. His workshops are open to all ages and encourage creative exploration of rhythm and sound\, combined with movement and dance. \nSpecial thanks to Columbia County Tourism and the Village of Kinderhook for co-sponsoring this event!
