Banned Books Club

Join fellow book lovers for our Banned Books Club! This insightful program is a chance to explore the novels that have been making headlines in recent years due to challenges in schools and public libraries across the country. Each month, we’ll be reading one challenged title and discussing not only the stories, but the controversy surrounding them as well as the broad concept of censorship.

Join us for a discussion of Patricia McCormick’s 2006 novel Sold. Told in a series of haunting vignettes, SOLD is a harrowing account of a sexual slavery. Alternating lyrical imagery with precise detail, McCormick gives voice to the terror and bewilderment of a young girl robbed of her childhood but who finds the strength to triumph.
