Book Sales and Donations

As the Friends of the Library, books are a big part of who we are.

Earnings from our various book sales make up roughly 40% of our annual budget, which of course goes directly toward supporting the Kinderhook Memorial Library’s services.

Learn more about these events below, and if you are interested in volunteering be sure to reach out to us at Friends@KinderhookLibrary.org!

Semiannual Book Sale

The Friends host two major book sales each year, one in May and one in September, at the McNary Center. Our September sale occurs right after our annual meeting, in which our new officers are elected and a new budget is voted on. This meeting is followed by our members-only preview party! Any Friends member can attend this preview party and get a first chance at the available books!

Pop-up Book Sales

Throughout the year, you can find smaller book sales at events around the village. Find us at the Farmer’s Market, at Library programs, on Candlelight Night, and more! Be sure to follow us on Facebook and Instagram to learn where we’ll be visiting next.

Book Donations

Help us rehome and recycle gently used books. Look for our upcoming monthly book donation dates. Drop-off is at the McNary Center, Sylvester Street, generally on the 2nd Saturday of the month. No appointment necessary. Your book donation helps us raise funds for the Library.

Friends’ Bookshelf

Can’t wait for one of our book sales? Fear not–there are always books available to purchase at the Library for the low, low price of “by donation”! Across from the meeting room, you’ll spot our bookshelf packed full with gently used books just waiting to go home with you. Check it out, and find your next great read today!
