This June, the Kinderhook Library will be hosting a Volunteer Fair at the McNary Center. Meet our first ever Kid Librarian, Viv!

If you happen to be looking for her, you can probably find Viv Heron curled up in the reading nook in the Children’s Room or stretched out in the Teen Room with her nose in a book. She’s one of our Kinderhook Library super-users and our first ever Kid Librarian! The Great Give Back 2025

Did you know: this year, we are joining libraries from across Columbia county and collecting canned and boxed foods for those in need? Bring your shelf stable donations to our library (or any other in the county). This year, we are working with the Ghent Food Pantry for donations. Please check the expiration dates before donating! So far we’ve collected over a hundred pounds of food already, but the month has two more weeks to go yet!

Getting Ready for Fall Fun

The summer is over and as things start to cool off, I just wanted to acknowledge the amazing job our patrons did this summer! During our summer reading program, hundreds of families signed up to read THOUSANDS of books, while also attending over 100 programs for all ages. Pride Swag Bags

Get ready for Pride Month with a free bag of goodies, information, and activities! These bags are intended for Teens, but are available to all ages.  Each Swag Bag includes a mini flag, a keychain craft, a beginners Quick and Tiny Guide to Pride, helpful resources, and more fun surprises! Supplies are limited; Swag Bags must be claimed in person. Pride Swag Bags will be available in the Teen Room and at the front desk starting May 27 until they’re gone. These Swag Bags were assembled with the help of our wonderful Teen Advisory Board!

The Festival of the Unknown Returns

This May we are happy to once again host the Unknown Paranormal Society for the second, bigger edition of the Festival of the Unknown. We will have speakers on hauntings, demonology, our old pal Bigfoot, and a live demonstration of the Estes method.
