The summer is over and as things start to cool off, I just wanted to acknowledge the amazing job our patrons did this summer! During our summer reading program, hundreds of families signed up to read THOUSANDS of books, while also attending over 100 programs for all ages. A big thank you from us at the Library to everyone who participated in making this one of our best summers ever!
And while the summer may be done, we are still continuing the fun with a whole bunch of programs coming up for you and your family. In October, we have four (!?) author talks at our library (see page xx), November will have a very important Navigating Medicare seminar, and in December we’re bringing Nerd Night: Fantasy Trivia for the geekier members of our community (yes, I do include myself in that crowd).
Parents, with a whole bunch of days off from school in the fall, make sure to keep us on your list of “things to do” with kids! Enjoy weekly crafts at Wednesday’s Imagination Station and Art-Focus Fridays, and drop in for some family-friendly films when school is out of session. And our teen patrons can enjoy the best parts of the season with an After School Leaf Walk on October 10 and Teen Cookie Trade on December 19. Our teen events are a great chance for middle- and high-school students to make new friends and pick up new skills and interests outside of a typical school setting, and this is a great time of year to start getting involved!
I wanted to take a moment to thank some of our local sponsors. With their support, we are able to continue to elevate our programming and better support our neighbors. This year, we have been honored to receive grant funding through The Hover Foundation, the Eugene M. Lang Foundation, and Greylock Federal Credit Union to support our exciting one-on-one tutoring program, The Ackerman Foundation and The Bank of Greene County for senior fitness initiatives like free tai chi classes, and CDPHP Charitable to support our staff’s participation in a local farm CSA!
With support from all members of our community, our library is able to continue to thrive and grow. Stay tuned for more information on what’s in store for 2026!
