Create a Teen Event

Open to High School Students

Create, plan, and run an independent teen program hosted by the Library! Volunteers
interested in running a teen event will first need to meet with the teen librarian to discuss the
project (type of event, supplies needed, date, etc.). Keep in mind that not all program ideas will
be appropriate for a library setting and workshopping ideas is encouraged to make any program
a success. All events will be open to the public.

Volunteers will be responsible for advertising their own events, creating a supply list, set
up/clean up, and communicating with the teen librarian. The Library is happy to advise
volunteers in any of these tasks!

Volunteers will be responsible for tracking their community service hours and reporting back to
the Library for volunteer records and necessary signatures. Volunteer hours for creating a teen
event include meetings with the teen librarian, planning at home, time spent creating fliers,
running the event, etc. A form will be provided for volunteers to keep track of time spent
preparing and running the program.

Program Examples:

  • Moderate a book discussion
  • Teach others about a hobby, interest, or skill
  • Host a meet up for gaming, art, writing, etc.
  • Email Emily at teens@kinderhooklibrary.org to discuss creating a teen event.
