Banned Books Book Club

October 21, 2024 @ 5:30 pm - 6:30 pm

Join us for the first session of our Banned Books Book Club! This insightful event is a chance to explore the novels that have been making headlines in recent years due to challenges in schools and public libraries across the country. Each month, we’ll be reading one challenged title and discussing not only the stories, but the controversy surrounding them as well as the broad concept of censorship.

At our first meeting, we will choose one of the following three books to discuss in November: All Boys Aren’t Blue by George M. Johnson, I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings by Maya Angelou, and The Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky. We have copies for participants to take home, and can order additional copies through the library system. This book club is made possible through a grant funded by the Mid-Hudson Library System.
