    Life is a cabaret, old chum, and we’re thrilled to have local trio Triple Entendre out to entertain you this evening with an hour of songs and laughs! This talented trio consists of local musicians Lucia Byrd, Cathy Olsen, and Diane Geddes, who are here to entertain us with some blues and Broadway favorites. Light refreshments and drinks will be served as you enjoy a fantastic evening. Thank you to the Friends of the Library for helping us arrange this wonderful event!

    Join us for this slightly ridiculous but super fun town-wide scavenger hunt for grownups to benefit library programs for children and teens! Grab a friend and make a team of 2 to 4 people and scramble around the Town of Kinderhook while finding or creating the most random assortment of items.     Join us for an in depth look at artist and activist Faith Ringgold. Learn how she combined social justice with contemporary art through her unique story quilts, and how the Harlem Renaissance informed her art and identity. Attendees will gain insight into her distinctive techniques, which combine painting and quilting to address themes of race, gender, and identity. Art historian and author Maria Ausherman will lead this presentation and discuss the historical context in which Faith worked.

  • Indigo Dyeing with Flowering Heart Homestead

    Entire economies and empires have revolved around this plant and its mysterious ability to dye blue. Come learn about the history of Indigo, how to make an Indigo vat, and dyeing techniques from many cultures such as shibori and katazome from Japan, and tie and dye from Africa. Each student will work on experimenting and creating designs on cotton. Simple cotton scarves and handkerchiefs to practice on will be provided and students may bring a small natural fiber item from home to dye. We will focus on skill building rather than volume dyeing.
