Open to Grades 7-12 This is Jeopardy! Put your knowledge (and buzzing speed!) to the test in categories written by librarians AND teens! Categories may include: Pokémon, Fictional Cartography, Ancient Memes, and Void Cats-- so get studying for this chaotic trivia showdown!
The Friends will be collecting books between 9am and 11am at the McNary Center--no appointment necessary! Be sure to review these donation guidelines before dropping off your materials. We are excited to host local writer Kristina Labaty at our library to celebrate National Poetry Month (and her birthday)! Kristina has had a fascination with poetry as long as she can recall and relishes the opportunity to share her written explorations with us. She will be sharing poems from various phases of her life and discussing her works and craft. Light refreshments will be served. On April 8th we will have a fantastic view of the solar eclipse, and we are ready to celebrate! Join us at the Stuyvesant Town Hall for a viewing party, where we'll have free eclipse glasses to share amongst ourselves as well as refreshments and crafts for kids? What if it's a cloudy day? Well, we won't let that stand in our way: come down for a fun party regardless, and we'll live-stream the event indoors! This event has been cancelled due to the weather. Check back for a new date during Summer Reading! We're taking our Fairy House program OUTSIDE for Spring Break! We will have lots of supplies on hand in addition to what you can scavenge from around the library grounds. Build your cutest house and you never know who will come to visit!
Writers, poets, and lovers of poetry are invited to our first stand-up open mic poetry night, in celebration of National Poetry Month! You're invited to bring a short original piece, a favorite poem by another author, or simply come to enjoy listening to others. Come meet other local poets, and learn more about the local Poetry Caravan, a local organization the brings poetry to others throughout the community! Light refreshments will be served. We are hoping to make this a regular event at the Library, so please let us know if you are interested but unable to attend!
