From the pioneering women behind the “Free Library Movement” to today's librarians who assist the public despite push backs and budget cuts, meet those who created a civic institution where everything is free and the doors are open to all. Light refreshments will be served.

    While many of us know Martin Van Buren as the eighth US president, did you know that he was very nearly the eleventh president as well? Come learn all about Van Buren’s involvement in the 1844 US election from noted history professor Mark Cheathem! Dr. Cheathem is a professor of history at Cumberland University in Tennessee, where he serves as project director for “The Papers of Martin Van Buren,” an archive project documenting Van Buren’s writings.
