Local author Phyllis Carito will be leading this event that encourages authors practicing and sharing their writing with others, and developing skills while forming lasting connections. This event considers who our ecological neighbors are, from the smallest to the largest in the ecosystem, and provides details on how to be a good neighbor to all life. What is "solar grazing"? You may have heard this term alongside "agrivoltaics", and we're giving you the chance to have your questions answered at the library! In short, agrivoltaics involves combining gathering solar energy and local farming in a way that benefits the community as a whole. But this is of course a more intricate subject! Luckily, we have experts in the field visiting to explain how it works, who benefits, and clear up some common misconceptions.

Mayuko Fujino is a self-taught paper cutout and stencil artist from Japan who now lives in Copake, NY. Inspired by traditional Japanese stencil textile designs and the Mingei folk art movement, she has been making art since 1999 for clients such as the National Audubon Society, Atlantic Magazine, and the Nature Conservancy. This art exhibit, Birds of the Hudson Valley, showcases her stencil paintings using natural pigments, some of which were made from rocks collected in the Hudson Valley.
