Mayuko Fujino is a self-taught paper cutout and stencil artist from Japan who now lives in Copake, NY. Inspired by traditional Japanese stencil textile designs and the Mingei folk art movement, she has been making art since 1999 for clients such as the National Audubon Society, Atlantic Magazine, and the Nature Conservancy. This art exhibit, Birds of the Hudson Valley, showcases her stencil paintings using natural pigments, some of which were made from rocks collected in the Hudson Valley. Local author Phyllis Carito will be leading this event that encourages authors practicing and sharing their writing with others, and developing skills while forming lasting connections. All are welcome, whether you've got a short story idea in mind or are putting the finishing touches on a new novel!
