  • GATHER & SWING: SQUARE DANCING SERIES

    This year, we are pleased to be partnering with Square Dance Columbia to bring an exciting series to Kinderhook and the surrounding areas! These welcoming community dances are for all ages and abilities. The dances run on Friday evenings from 7-10 PM, beginning with a learning workshop 20-30 minutes, and will include a break for refreshments. Each dance will be taught and called by an experienced dance caller. Attendees will dance to upbeat music by a live band featuring, fiddle, guitar, banjo, and bass.     Sunday, March 22 at 12:00pm-4:00pm Prom Season is closer than you think, and dresses are expensive!  Let us help you feel your most beautiful…for free!  Come find your perfect dress for a memorable evening. The cost? Just a valid high school ID. This event is LGBTQIA+ friendly; teens of all gender identities are welcome to choose a dress.

    If you're looking for a low-impact, gentle exercise in a welcoming group setting, be sure to stop by our new Tai Chi for Seniors program in Stuyvesant! We are partnering with the Office of the Aging to bring this free program to seniors. Stop by for this energizing exercise, and learn more about the various services provided by the Office of the Aging as well! This series is made possible due to a generous grant through The Ackerman Foundation. This event takes place weekly at the Stuyvesant Town Hall. Please contact us if you need assistance!

  • 100 Days of Ice and Snow: The Winter War (1939-40)

    Local historian Michael Robbins will be presenting on the 105-day conflict between Finland and the Soviet Union, highlighting how a vastly outnumbered Finnish force utilized guerrilla tactics to resist the Red Army. This was a short conflict that occurred relatively early on, but the significance and impact were felt throughout the duration of WW2. Michael will take us through the background and events of the conflict and discuss the lasting effects from the signing of the Moscow Peace Treaty.

That’s why we are working with Village Yoga to bring this exciting program back to the Library for those of us who are looking for a less strenuous, but just as relaxing, experience. Please bring a yoga mat if you have one. This series is brought to you thanks to a generous grant from The Hover Foundation.

  • Elemental Art Show: reflections on the Natural World

    Join us for the opening of our new art show on Saturday, March 28 from 2 to 4 pm, Local artists Karen Hummel, Wendy Nooney, and Robin Guthridge will be presenting their works in a friendly, social setting to celebrate this nature-inspired art show! Their gorgeous paintings will be on show throughout the month of April to help us celebrate Earth Day. Pieces will be available for purchase.
