    While many of us know Martin Van Buren as the eighth US president, did you know that he was very nearly the eleventh president as well? Come learn all about Van Buren’s involvement in the 1844 US election from noted history professor Mark Cheathem! Dr. Cheathem is a professor of history at Cumberland University in Tennessee, where he serves as project director for “The Papers of Martin Van Buren,” an archive project documenting Van Buren’s writings.

Stop by the library for an information session with Andy Brooks of Bootstrap Compost! This residential service collects compost from your home, like how recycling pickup works, and returns healthy soil for your garden. The company is aiming to kick off service in Kinderhook upon enrolling 50 households. This presentation is a perfect opportunity to learn about how we can bring this fantastic service to our community soon!
