    Gentle yoga is back at the Library! Those of us who have tried yoga have learned that it can be a lot more intense than it looks! That’s why we are working with Village Yoga to bring this exciting program back to the Library for those of us who are looking for a less strenuous, but just as relaxing, experience. Please bring a yoga mat if you have one. This series is brought to you thanks to a generous grant from The Hover Foundation.

    Fridays, Oct. 9, Nov. 13, Dec. 11  Looking to help out the library, learn more about library sciences, or just build your volunteer resume?  Now's your chance!  Once a month, we will have drop-in volunteering for teens Grades 6-12.  Jobs will vary from week to week, but may include prepping children’s crafts, helping to set up programs, looking for missing books, and other tasks around the library.  Volunteering runs from 3:30pm-5pm.  Teens will receive community service credit.  Email teens@kinderhooklibrary.org with any questions!

  • America's Arsenal of Democracy: How American Industry Won WWII

    President Franklin Delano Roosevelt first used the phrase "arsenal of democracy" nearly a year before the US officially entered WWII to refer to the United State's role in providing weapons, ammunition, and other industrial support for Allied forces overseas. In this presentation, historian Michael Robbins will provide an overview into exactly what that arsenal looked like, and how American industry and production turned the tides by producing two-thirds of all the war material of the Allies in the last four years of the war.

  • Testimony of a Revolutionary War Soldier

    During the eight years of the Revolutionary War, Ezra Trim served in a Connecticut Regiment, two New York Regiments, a local militia, a New Hampshire Regiment and, at West Point, Colonel Lamb's Regiment of Artillery. Steve Trimm is Ezra's fifth great grandson, and using Ezra's military records and pension application, plus stories handed down in the family, Steve will present a "living history" portrayal of his ancestor.

    Wednesdays, Oct. 21, Nov. 18, Dec. 16 TAB is back!  Join our teen volunteer group in planning teen events and making the library a better place for teens. Joining is easy: just stop by a meeting and enjoy a snack!  Attendees earn one hour of community service per meeting.  Open to Grades 6-12.  Meetings run from 5:00pm-6:00pm.  Email teens@kinderhooklibrary.org with any questions.
